Sleep eyes

I chickened out and got the other half to do it but Lottie now has sleep eyes. Hurrah! Been too busy for much else lately.

Little steps

I am going to make a start on making little steps towards customising Lottie some more. I am SO afraid of doing something wrong!

I had a look at http://photo.pchome.com.tw/photos1.html?nickname=imayhuang&s=s03&books_id=26&page=1 and although the pictures are clear, having never seen "sleep eyes" on a Blythe, I don't really know what the end result is and how it works (if that makes ANY sense) and am therefore a bit apprehensive about it, but I'm going to get the hubby to help so I have someone else to blame if it goes horribly wrong ;)

Infact, a lot of the tutorials are really clear, but not knowing or having seen what the end result is, it's often quite scary to actually start on it. Another great example is spray matting. I'm sure it's really easy, but to a complete newbie, how on EARTH do you go about it? Do you mask things off? What do you do with her eyes? Eyelashes? Hair? Some people tend to forget that newbies have to start somewhere!!!

Anyway, whinge over!

Storms

Being slightly afraid of thunderstorms (and also slightly in awe of them) I hid under the duvet last night as a house a couple of streets away was hit by lightning!

The thunder has just started again. I'm off to hide and do some more sewing.

Shine

I'm going to have to do something about Bea (V-Smash) and her shiny shiny face. I quite like her make up despite it being a bit orangey but have never customised a Blythe before and although I've read all the information on the forum, it still doesn't really help with actually having the nerve to do it.

I've just realised while looking at the first picture....Bea looks like a shiny demon!

Films

I've been trying to watch more films lately and due to lack of time, there are far too many on the hard drive of our sky+ box. Today I made a dent in it by watching:
Wuthering Heights (Juliette Binoche & Ralph Fiennes)
A King In New York (Charlie Chaplin)
The French Lieutenant's Woman (Jeremy Irons & Meryl Streep)

I still don't think I am ever going to be able to watch Watership Down . I watched it as a child and hearing "bright eyes" still makes me weepy. I'll have to try though. The only other film that I REALLY have to get around to watching is The Shawshank Redemption.

FAB1

I wish I'd had a doll with me to sit inside FAB1 from the Thunderbirds film. Photos were taken at Beaulieu Motorcycle Museum this weekend - we were trying to escape from the heat and dust outside. I also quite liked Marlene Dietrich's Auburn 851.

Photos

What a busy weekend! I wish I could have camped overnight at Beaulieu, but unforunately I had to rush home to see to the dogs. I took my camera, but unfortunately I couldn't take any of the Blythes as it was far too hot and dusty. Besides which, all the guys would have crucified me! A biker? Into dolls? I'd have loved to have taken photos of any of the dolls on some of the beautiful custom bikes. The one thing I did for them was to buy them a purple scooter to share

I'll take a quick photo of Lottie and her scooter later when it's cooler.

Anyway, this week is going to be all about getting my new bedroom ready and then hopefully I will have somewhere beautiful for my girls to live and be photographed. While the other half is in a DIY mood, I'm going to persuade him to make me my dollhouse too. I have so many great ideas for it.

Heatwave!

Spent the day at Motorcycle world. Had a great time with friends. Seen loads I want to buy - but can't find that perfect scooter for Lottie. Taken millions of pictures which I will share tomorrow or Monday. Bike went a little wonky so I came home on a borrowed one ;) Must sleep!

Bikes and Blythe

I'm going to spend what little time I have to myself this afternoon making a bag specifically for transporting the Blythes on my motorbike. I already have luggage on my bike, so I'm going to make some kind of fitted, padded carry bag to go inside that will protect them. This might encourage Steve to do something about arranging something similar for his bike so we can take the dog out with us.

Motorcycle World

Been really busy with motorbike stuff for the show this weekend, so haven't had a lot of time for the girls. I got a Lounging Lovely clothes set from ebay so that Lottie (still haven't decided whether to keep the name) has her stock clothes. Apart from that, I don't really have time for dolls until next week sometime! Why am I wishing my weekend away?

Lottie

I appear to have adopted a new girl. She's called Lottie and she's from Singapore. Originally a Lounging Lovely but has been lightly adapted and I hope to carry it on when I get some time for myself.

I'm not sure if I should keep her name...and I'm really hesitant about doing anything else with her as she's so pretty already.

Bikes

I am a marshall for the "biggest weekly motorbike meet in Europe" and although I really, REALLY enjoy it, sometimes it gets me down. I like riding my motorbike but I don't like the stereotyped "biker". Anyway, tonight...a couple of thousand bikes arrive and just one guy decides that he wants a fight and tries to barge me out of the way with his bike. I did the right thing (I hope) and didn't react too badly and just took his plate and reported him to the Police. Hopefully he'll be sent a letter telling him that he isn't too welcome for the rest of the summer.

Doll house ideas

an empty shell

I suppose I like this layout...or do I? I'm not sure if I'd just prefer two open plan storeys. Also I'd like to put some storage drawers in underneath. And probably a perspex/glass front as our house is a stupid dust trap (OK so I'm NOT a good housewife). Or do I opt for just two shelves and forego the glass front?

I need to sleep and dream of how I would prefer it.

Dolls House

I've been thinking about a doll's house for a while and having just got three Blythes, I'm going to make it a house for them.
I've had a look at http://www.sweetles.nl and it's spurring me on to do something. I'm going to have to ask the boy to make me a basic 2x2 room "box". He's really quite good at making things, I just have to hope he has some time to do it. Then I can get on with the decoration.
I still have to decide on rooms, but I like the idea of a kitchen/living area (spanning two rooms) and a bedroom with dressing-room/walk-in wardrobe.

Starting over...

Spent yesterday feeling a little "delicate" after the wedding reception on Saturday night. Eventually got started on the print layout for the posters for next weekend's show. It will be finished and at the printer by tonight hopefully. Even if I say so myself, we got a lot done and had a really nice dinner and I reckon all the posters will work well together.

I'm desperate to get started on making some new clothes for my Blythe girls, Bea(VS) & Grace(ILYIT). I popped into town on Saturday to get some accessories for the wedding and ended up in the fabric shop (surprise surprise!) Got some pretty, summery, floral fabrics to make a couple of matching dresses for them and also got some "grab-bags" of assorted trimmings and off-cuts of fabric. I think I should be able to use most of it, although I'm not sure about the lime green with silver bead tassle trim!

I want to take some more pictures of the girls, but I am going to wait until their sister arrives. I seem to have gone to town this month and have ended up with THREE Blythes. This one is a Lounging Lovely who has had a few modifications done - matted, eyechips painted...can't remember what else. She's called Lottie and I think I'll keep the name, but I'll see when she arrives.

Hopefully we can get our bedroom sorted out this week (the new wardrobes arrive on Friday) and the girls can move to my new dressing table to be displayed and played with more.

About

I'm hoping to use this LJ as a place for my doll-related pictures and sewing exploits. It might change, that's the nature of it.
